MONDAY, DAY 1
Welcome to America’s Capital

• Proceed through registration and join your fellow Student Leaders for welcome activities while your family attends orientation
• Meet in your room and get to know your roommates
• Participate in your first leadership group meeting and learn more about your facilitator, your group, and the program’s activities
• Find out more about the history of People to People and get to know the staff who will be guiding you through the program
• Relax with your roommates before bed checks and lights out

TUESDAY, DAY 2
Understanding the U.S. Government

• Enjoy breakfast with your leadership group at the hotel
• Board the motor coach and meet your driver and delegation manager for the week
• Explore the Capitol and learn more about the branches of government
• Share lunch with fellow Student Leaders in the District before making your way to the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and other sites on “the Hill”
• Gain valuable insight from a member of Congress as to what it takes to make and shape policy
• Sample international cuisine and hear from accomplished speakers in the field of international diplomacy at the embassy dinner
• Share your thoughts on the day’s events with your peers during your leadership meeting

WEDNESDAY, DAY 3
The Civil and Cold War

• Travel north through the open and scenic fields of Pennsylvania to Gettysburg Military Park where the Battle of Gettysburg served as a turning point in the Civil War
• Go onto the battlefield and explore the rock formations of Devil’s Den or take in the view at Little Round Top where General Warren mounted a desperate struggle for the Union
• Enjoy lunch in one of the many historical locations in the area before visiting the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center
• Take the shuttle to the Eisenhower National Historic Site and the home of People to People founder. The Eisenhower Farm served the President as a weekend retreat and meeting place for world leaders.
• Enjoy a guided exploration of the house and farm
• Eat dinner prior to returning to the hotel for your evening leadership meeting

THURSDAY, DAY 4
Remembering the Past, Building the Future

• Board your motor coach for Arlington National Cemetery. Once there, you will walk among thousands of fallen soldiers honored by their country for their service.
• Make your way up to John F. Kennedy’s gravesite to observe the Eternal Flame
• View the wooden cross marking the grave of Robert Kennedy
• Witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and understand the impact each soldier’s life has made on this country
• Visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum where you will experience the exhibit: Remember the Children: Daniel’s Story. “Daniel,” age 10, is a composite of the Jewish children who experienced the war.
• Soak in the history as you stand in the spot where Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his “I have a dream …” speech at the Lincoln Memorial
• Take some time to reflect on the morning’s events while your group departs for the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
• Explore another Smithsonian museum on the National Mall—The National Museum of the American Indian
• From there you will explore another Smithsonian museum on the National Mall—The National Museum of the American Indian
• Get the scoop at  the Newseum, an interactive experience that blends five centuries of new history with modern technology and innovation
• Watch the cool night air settle around the feet of the soldiers as depicted in the Korean War Veterans Memorial
• Lay a commemorative wreath at the World War II Memorial before making your way to dinner
• Participate in your nightly leadership meeting upon arrival at the hotel

FRIDAY, DAY 5
Exploring Washington, DC

• Enjoy one last breakfast with your leadership group    
• Assume your cover—an alternate identity—at the International Spy Museum and make your way through the three extensive floors of the museum. Learn about spy equipment, secret messages, disguises, and much more at this hands-on museum
• Continue your exploration of the regions monuments and memorials to include the Marine Corps War Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
• Visit more monuments and memorials before having lunch at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center
• Board your motor coach for one last excursion-a casual dinner and dance cruise on the Potomac
• Return to your hotel for a chance to pack and have your final leadership meeting before saying good-night

Farewell
Awake early for your family’s arrival or transport via private shuttle to the airport. Breakfast will be provided.
